The Transference and Countertransference course delves into the unconscious psychological phenomenon of attributing the thoughts, feelings and behaviors of a previous relationship to a current relationship. Though the occurrence of transference and countertransference are normal, they are potentially disastrous. This course brings these issues into the practitioner's awareness, minimizing the negative impact on the therapeutic relationship. It includes reading chapter One of The Ethics of Touch (book purchased separately), answering 10 test questions, and completing an interview project. It meets the NCBTMB 2-hour continuing education requirement for Ethics Standard V: Roles and Boundaries.
